About The ClubThe TORBAY RAMBLING CLUB, started in 1950, welcomes new members. We are affiliated to the Ramblers Association.
WHO WE ARE: Quite simply - a friendly Walking Club, based in the Torbay area of South Devon, whose members enjoy rambling or walking, purely for the pleasure it gives us.
WHAT WE DO: Principally we organize rambles, using public and private transport, to places of scenic and historical interest, on Dartmoor and in and around the countryside and coast of South Devon. Rambles of 10 to 13 miles are held on Sundays, shorter walks of 6 to 8 miles on the first Wednesday of every month, with evening walks during June and July of about 5 miles. We also arrange occasional rambles to places outside our immediate vicinity such as Exmoor, the Dorset coast and North Devon.
Other outdoor activities include rambling weekends, at the beginning of May and the end of September, when we have two or three days rambling in a different area, staying in a suitable hotel or hostel.
On the social scene we arrange slide evenings, a Christmas Dinner, occasionally a barbecue, skittles evenings or a theatre outing.
